How to: Simple French + Design

Sometime in manicure we need to be have an eye on what adequate and wat's excessive. Make sure the result is represented by an eye on the dragon and not an additional legg for the snake (chinese idoms)

French on toes, outline with silver/glitter along the french. Using a thin silver brush.

Using a bobby pin/ toothpick, dab with gloss, gloss over toes and paste!

And there. I put it on the alternate toes.

And For my fingers because i was sooo bored i drew a dandelion on the thumb nail only

How to: Miscelleneous Necessity

Not every does this but its good to know, cheap and easy to do, benefits you for sure :)

Thinner
Drip a few drops of thinner into your nail polish and rub against your palm. Basically shake well. Its good for polishes which has hardened slightly due to not capping properly! tsk tsk, yes all of us face this i believe.

Nail Polish remover
Using a cotton, clean the mouth of the bottle properly! You tend to brush the polish against the mouth to remove the excess. But! they'll harden and you can't cap it tight eough and air goes in.. resulting in the above.

White Polish
Who doesnt like French style? haha, ok i'm speaking for myself. White can also be used to blend with darker polish to get pastel. Again, who doesnt like pastel colours? haha..

How to: 3-Tiered Gradient Shades

This is the final result. Coated with a pruple glitter.

Or as such without too much glitter
The 3 'pink-red' shades that i chose :) You can select any other colours if you have 3 shades of it. I love pink! so this is it :)
A common make-up sponge. Brush a lightest shade at a corner of the sponge.

Dab the lightest shade on the whole nail.

Choose the 2nd shade and dab abput 3/4 of the nail upwards.

Dab the darkest red on half the nail.

I used the glitter to cover the entire nails to smoothen the different shades.

Don't forget the base and top coat!

Basic Procedure for Manicure

When we're younger, it seems like we can just brush a layer of nail polish on your nails. but noooo, its not that simple.

File:
Its impt to file and smoothen the nails. Shape could be curved or 'rectangular'. Most ppl like it the be the latter since i personally feel its due to the elegance. Super tedious! Necessary only for a perfectionist..

Cuticle removal:
Push back your cuticles carefully. Its easier to accomplish that after soaking in warm water! and you can paint a lager area of your nails after that. Looks better.. slightly if you can notice :)

Moisturise:
Some nail care products but hmm i dont use them

Base Coat:
Its impt as it'll let the colours stay longer and your nails doenst become yellow so easily.

Top Coat:
To provide the shine and gloss!! My fetish :S

Quick Dry:
Like the name imply, put it over and your nails can dry in about 30s or so? But but but, given my impatient nature, it kinda smears my manicure when i brush over it. Haha, soooo , i figure, we need to wait a short while then paint over since the top most layer shd be dry by then. I has the top coat gloss effect as well.

Making your own Nail Polish Colour

Easy, fun, affordable!

What you need:

1) Unwanted base coat or top coat

2) Unwanted colour pigment (From eye shadows/ Blushers)

3) Blotting Paper

4) Toothpick

For some strange reason I have 3 bottles of base coat which i know I'll never be able to finish using them. I just pick a brandless, depleting bottle.

You know how you like to buy eye shadow palettes and end up using at most 2 of the shades? There will be some bright and vibrant ones which your eye doesnt have a need for. I already removed the desired colour

Step One

Remove your desired colour from the palette. I just used a penknife and outlined the sides of the metal holder. Alternatively, u can gently heat up the base of the palette for easier removal.

Step Two

Use a toothpick to scrape out the pigments onto a blotting paper. A blotting paper is better as you wouldnt waste too much of the final polish.

Step Three

Pour the base coat and mix in. Just add in till there's no more solid powder left, be careful not to 'over-pour' the base coat

Step Four

Scrap them into the empty base coat bottle and Ta-Da!

Add some solvent with a dropper if the result is too thick. There, you now have a new bottle of polish you can apply :)

Note: I think by now you should be eager to try it out! but uou should only do this with old/obselete items. Don't waste them :)

French Manicure Variation

I used to think that you need to have the 'tape' to complete a beautiful french manicure, but nope, its not a necessity. While using your right hand, swipe your brush along your left nails and ur left finger move in the opposite direction simultaneously. Ta-da! Do the opposite for the other hand. You need one smooth swipe so that there wont be jagged edges though.

Using 3 crystals for the ouline to cover any imperfections.

But some of these 'jagged' edges looks like the Alps Snowhill so we can leave it as that :)

The Really cool thing about doing your own manicure, is that any 'distortions' or mistakes could be explained and transformed to a form of creativity!

Welcome to Fancy Nails

The thing about nails is that they're such simple and neglectable part of your life. What everyone knows 'by default' is just to keep them cleam, trim and neat'. But but..there're more to that!!

If a girl bothers to display brilliance and care for her face, hair, dressing etc.. I find that nice nails attracts ppl's attention too! :) I, for one would be! I may be in a train, and accidentally stare too long at the lady holding on to the pole. Alright, that's me :P But I do receive a number of comments by ppl (mainly friends) who noticed mine, and that makes me superficially happy too :)
